CEC Announces First-Ever Swim Team, Brandon Rapone Named Head Coach

Friday, November 14 (Fairless Hills, PA) - Conwell-Egan Catholic High School (CEC) proudly announces the formation of its first-ever swim team, marking a historic moment for the school and the Philadelphia Catholic League (PCL). Leading the inaugural program will be Coach Brandon Rapone, a veteran educator, accomplished swimmer, and longtime coach with deep roots in the Catholic school athletic community.Coach Rapone brings more than a decade of experience as both an educator and a swim coach. A graduate of Holy Family University with dual certification in Early Childhood and Special Education, Rapone has served as a teacher in Archdiocesan schools for several years. His coaching career includes eight seasons with the Archbishop Ryan High School swim program, where he worked with both the boys’ and girls’ teams under Coach Ed Macko. During his tenure, he developed individualized training plans, mentored student-athletes in and out of the pool, and helped foster a culture of teamwo

As the fall sports season comes to a close, we caught up with our team captains to reflect on the highlights, challenges, and standout moments from the season. This marks the start of Captain’s Corner, where each season we spotlight the voices of our student-athlete leaders.  Girls Soccer(PCL Record: 5-4)Led by captains Lacey Long ‘26, Kim Padilla ‘26, Abbey Genievich ‘28, and Ruth Bryant ‘26, the CEC girls’ soccer team showed resilience and growth throughout the season. The captains credited their strong friendships and team chemistry for keeping morale high through challenges like adjusting to first-year Head Coach Devon Swaim and a new system.“The highlight of our season so far was going into overtime with St. Hubert’s,” said Padilla. CEC Cross Country Athletes Shine at District XII Championships

On Thursday, October 23 Conwell-Egan Catholic’s Cross Country team had a strong showing at the District XII Championships at Belmont Plateau, with several athletes earning medals and qualifying for the state championships.Senior Edward Larr, who serves as Boys Team Captain, placed 11th overall and earned a spot at states. He was joined by Junior Mark Griffin (13th place, State Qualifier) and Senior Antonio Carmona (17th place, State Qualifier).On the girls’ side, Freshman Alessandra Stamato impressed with a 7th-place finish and State Qualifier honors. Junior Vittoria Stamato, the Girls Team Captain, placed 22nd, while Senior Caitlyn Larr finished 24th overall.The State Championship meet will take place on Saturday, November 1st in Hershey.Congratulations to all our athletes for their outstanding performances and dedication throughout the season!

CEC Welcomes Samantha Falconio as New Cheer Coach

CEC is proud to announce the hiring of Samantha Falconio as the new Head Cheerleading Coach. Falconio brings over a decade of coaching experience, a passion for youth development, and a record of competitive success to the program.Falconio most recently served as Assistant Cheer Coach at Pennsbury High School, where she played an integral role in leading teams to high-ranking finishes at PIAA States and NCA Nationals. Prior to that, she was Head Coach at William Penn Middle School and Harry S. Truman High School, consistently fostering positive team cultures while developing strong tumbling and stunt techniques.“I’m beyond thrilled to accept the position of head cheerleading coach at Conwell-Egan. CEC is thrilled to share that Mr. Korell Velez has been named the new Head Coach for the Girls Basketball program.Velez, a Levittown-native, joins the program as an accomplished travel basketball/AAU coach with more than 10 years of experience helping student-athletes promote their academic and athletic ambitions. Velez takes the helm at CEC after a long tenure coaching both boys and girls youth basketball in the Bucks County area for various programs, including the Bensalem Chargers and Pennsbury travel programs during the winter and spring seasons."I am very excited to bring my passion and energy to the high school level and look forward to continue growing the game at Conwell-Egan," said Velez."We are confident that Coach Velez' experience and passion for the game will continue to propel the girls basketball program forward at CEC," said Athletic Director Mike Miller.
