Boys Bowling 2023-24 Season Recap
The 2023-24 Conwell-Egan Catholic boys bowling team finished in first place during the Philadelphia Catholic League regular season and finished runner-up to Fr. Judge in the PCL Championship Tournament before advancing to the Eastern Pennsylvania Regional Tournament.
The Eagles compiled 63 points in the Win column (opposed to just 5 points in the Loss column). CEC knocked down 49,638 pins this season, including a series high of 3,061 pins, and was led by senior Matt Coppola.
Coppola was the Catholic League MVP, possessing a PCL-high 214 league average. A two-time CEC Athlete of the Month, Matt placed fifth in the Eastern Pennsylvania Regional in Lancaster and qualified for Nationals in June. Nationals will also be held this year in Lancaster, PA.
CEC had many stand-out performances this season, placing five Eagles on the All-PCL team. Sophomores Luke Finn, Ben Blaskopf and Brian Baill and junior Garrett Phillips join Coppola with All-Catholic honors.
With four of the top five bowlers returning, CEC looks to make a run at another PCL Title next season.
