Boys Bowling 2023-24 Season Recap
The 2023-24 Conwell-Egan Catholic boys bowling team finished in first place during the Philadelphia Catholic League regular season and finished runner-up to Fr. Judge in the PCL Championship Tournament before advancing to the Eastern Pennsylvania Regional Tournament.
The Eagles compiled 63 points in the Win column (opposed to just 5 points in the Loss column). CEC knocked down 49,638 pins this season, including a series high of 3,061 pins, and was led by senior Matt Coppola.
Coppola was the Catholic League MVP, possessing a PCL-high 214 league average. A two-time CEC Athlete of the Month, Matt placed fifth in the Eastern Pennsylvania Regional in Lancaster and qualified for Nationals in June. Nationals will also be held this year in Lancaster, PA.
CEC had many stand-out performances this season, placing five Eagles on the All-PCL team. Sophomores Luke Finn, Ben Blaskopf and Brian Baill and junior Garrett Phillips join Coppola with All-Catholic honors.
With four of the top five bowlers returning, CEC looks to make a run at another PCL Title next season.

CEC Bowler Heading to Nationals
Congratulations to senior Matt Coppola, who recently competed against the top bowlers in Pennsylvania and placed fifth. He will now compete in Nationals in June.
CEC Bowlers Excel at Coaches Invitational

On Sunday, February 25, CEC Bowling competed in the Coaches Association Invitational Tournament. In the girls division, Kamryn Moody ‘25 received a trophy for high game of the day and Lindsay Klewin ‘24 received a trophy for 2nd place in the high game category.
In the boys division, Matt Coppola ‘24 finished in first after the three qualifying games with a 747 series, earning a trophy for that accomplishment and then went on to win the finals with a 258 game. Matt was also the league MVP this year as he had the highest average in the boys division. Matt is pictured here with the Championship Plate for the tournament.
